A Solution?

Phil is not allowed on the couches.

It has not always been this way. In fact, there was a time he was allowed to get up on the couches, to snuggle, to sit, and just to relax.

He was normally really good to just sit there, and not do much of anything, but sleep.

However, times changed, and so did our couches.

After a while of him being able to get on the couches, they started to look a little too "worn in".

He started to live on the couches. We would find him on them in the middle of the night, just as relaxed and comfy as ever.

We decided that it was time to train him off the couches! This was (and still is) no small feat.

He has free range of the whole house. He can go anywhere, and basically do anything, but get on those couches. It is only every once in a while now when we come home from somewhere and he is laying on the couch.

We would prefer that he take a nap, or two, or fifteen (as he does throughout the day) on our bed. Our comforter is washable, and rather than sleeping and "wearing in and through" our couches, he can just sleep on our bed.

This was his solution, to sleeping on the bed. Maybe he thinks that the comforter is not for him to sleep on, or maybe he thinks that if he makes him a little spot, it will be more comfortable.

I wonder how long it took him to do that?

(Sometimes I wonder what we would find if we video taped him while we were away. I would have loved to see him "make" his bed.)
