Greed

Cal was letting Phil lick the BBQ sauce off of his left over rib bone.

They both came running into the other room, the bone clenched in Phil's jaw.

We don't ever, ever, ever give Phil real bones, ever! We figure he already has enough health problems, without having a shard of bone lodged into one of his internal organs that would require surgery to have removed.

That is why Cal was just letting Phil lick off the delicious BBQ sauce.

That was not good enough for Phil. He grabbed the bone and took off.

We could not get the bone loose.

We tried everything. Phil was just pacing back and forth and drooling all over the place. I know he was wondering when we were going to leave him alone so that he could devour the bone.

We did not want it to break in half and then Phil would have two broken pieces of bone in his mouth, so after a few minutes of us trying to pry open Phil's jaw, we decided that we would just let him relax until he layed down and let it go.

After a while Cal got the idea that maybe if he went and got the other bones and let Phil think that he was going to get another one, maybe he would put this one down and we could grab it.

It worked!

After we confiscated the bone, Cal knew it was time to teach Phil a very important life lesson, this is what he said...

"Phil, you are greedy, you gave up the one that you had to get more. Now you don't have any. Did you learn your lesson?"

Phil followed Cal around more closely than usual for the next couple hours. Cal had to keep telling Phil that he was never going to get another bone!

Thankful-ness

Gratitude
Today I am grateful that I only go into the office to work two days a week.

I am thankful for the fall weather, the colors , the smells, and the trick or treat-ers that came to our home.

I am thankful that after spending the evening with my family, I have good feelings and memories of Halloween 2008.

I am thankful that other people say thank you. After Audy left tonight, as soon as she got home, she called and told me thanks for the fun night.

Grateful

Today I am grateful for...

The laugh Cal and I had this morning when he jumped out and scared me before he went to school.

The Visiting Teaching Message for this month. I am thankful that I was reminded of the quote from Margaret D. Nadauld, she said,
"Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind...We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith."

My Mom. She is out of town and it is just not the same without her here!

Gratitude

Today I am thankful for...

My Dad. I love our talks, our visits, and just being with him. If I am leaving his house, and Cal is not with me, each and every time he will walk me to my car and help me get in. Even if it is late, or he is tired, or it is cold. It does not matter, he always makes sure that I get to my car and waves good bye as I drive away.

Levi. He is always happy and cheerful. I love that he calls me just to tell me the funny thing that just happened, or just to tell me hi. We always laugh together, and I love it!

My Grandma. She is so thoughtful and sweet. I loved the conversation that I had with her today and that I always feel like a better person for knowing her.

The Library. I love to go to the library and borrow books from them. I love that I can just have the books for a couple weeks, take them back and then I have a million other books to choose from. I can browse the recipe book section for a very long time.

Norman

My Parents got a new puppy!

He is going to be one big boy! We think he will far outgrow Phil in several months.

Norman's Dad is 75 Pounds, to put that in perspective, Phil only weighs 53 Pounds!

This boy is going to be big!

He is 100% pure squishable-ness!

"Heartfelt Gratitude"

Thanksgiving is a month away.

In honor of this talk, I am going to have a month long string of posts that include things that I am thankful for.

Elder Bednar's talk is about prayer and three ways we can make prayer more meaningful, my favorite way that he talked about was to express heartfelt gratitude. I have probably thought about this talk every day since it was given. I feel like I have always been grateful for my blessings, but I want to make more of a conscious note of my blessings, and things that I am grateful for. Not just in my prayers, but also in my daily living.

Actually, this will probably be something that does not just last a month, but rather is a change in my thinking and may end up in posts along the way.

Gratitude
Today I am grateful for My sweet boyfriend, and that he works so hard, on hard, long, frustrating statistics problems so that he can be an actuary. And that after he has worked all day long on his math, he still comes to me with a smile on his face.

I am grateful that my Frittata worked for dinner tonight, and that it tasted good. I love to cook, and I absolutely love when what I have cooked, works, and was tasty.

I am grateful for this quote that I read while reading up on how Nie Nie was doing a few days ago. I feel like it was written just for me.
"Hope is the anticipation that the outcome wil be good.
Worry is the anticipation that the outcome will be bad.
Faith is the anticipation that whatever the outcome, it will be for our good."

I am grateful that my parents provided me with an education, and instilled in me the importance of gaining knowledge. Earning my degree seemed to take forever, but I am so grateful that I have it. I love being able to do what I want, without feeling the need to be working on homework, or worrying about what I have to do for class the next day. I love it!

Nine

Nine years ago today, Cal asked me to make things "official".

It was the best decision I ever made.

Handsome, you are my everything, and I love you with all that I am.

Sunday Afternoon

Nothing like spending a chilly Sunday afternoon with my Handsome, our Pup, and a little cup of homemade hot coco!

It was absolutely lovely.

Bragging Rights

This is what happens after you finish telling your Husband that you are, "the best knife sharpener in the whole world!"

I will think twice before I start bragging like that again!

Quirk Tag

I have been tagged. Thanks BriAnne!

The rules are to list 6 quirks that I have.

1. I can listen to the same CD (or song for that matter) over and over again. Cal can not do this, he needs change, but if I love the song/CD that I am listening to, I can listen to it forever.

2. I love lipstick. I love how it adds a splash of color to my face.
Now that natural, nude, or glossy, are the "in" thing for lips, I find myself on a lipstick hunt for the perfect "nude" lipstick. I will probably buy about 15 to 20 lipsticks that I think will work, and then end up not using them more than once, until I find the perfect shade.

3. In our bathroom, we have two soap containers. One that is for liquid soap, and then a soap holder for bar soap. Now here is the quirk, I can't have any color but white soap for the bar soap. I know, I know, so weird. I don't care about the color of soap that we shower with, that can be blue, green, tan, it does not matter, but the bar soap in the soap holder by the sink, has to be white.

4. This is a recent quirk that I just realized that I have. It is not that I have just realized that I have been doing it, no, I have been doing it for quite some time, however, I have just recently realized that it is a "quirk" and I am trying to turn it around, and not have it happen anymore. I am a pessamist. I have always thought of myself as a happy person, one who always looks for the positive in everything, and I still do. I do look for the positive in things, but only after I have already thought of all the gloom and doom that will happen first. For example, say we are going on long road trip. Before I think about the beautiful drive, the fun music we can listen to, the fun company and conversations that will be had, and all the memories that we will make, I will first imagine us getting in a car accident, or getting pulled over, or having to drive in a big snow storm and sliding around on a patch of ice. Gloom and doom I tell you, Gloom and doom!

5. I am pretty sure that I have mentioned this already here, however, it is definitely a quirk that is worth mentioning again, and I am going to add to it as well. The quirk is that "Everything has a place and everything is in it's place". I would consider myself an organized person, but really, things need to go where they belong! There is a place for almost everything in our home, and that is where it goes. That is where we go to look for it, and that is where it needs to be put back so that we can find it again when we need it.
Something to go along with this is that Cal and I don't really keep things. We usually throw things away if we have not used them for a while, or if they just are taking up space without being helpful. This however, sometimes gets us into trouble....like the time we wanted a new monitor for our computer, so we decided we would save the "old" one for a minute or two in our storage closet, (just in case). After several months of using our "new" monitor, we decided that the old one was taking up space and took it to D.I. I kidd you not, not even 24 hours later, our nice "new" monitor broke, and we ended up having to buy a new one, since our "old" one was now property of D.I. Oh, well, it was almost totally worth it since we did not have it taking up space in our storage unit...doing nothing! Ha!

6. Thanks to a little reminder from Cal, I remembered quirk # 6. It is our bed. It is not the bed that is the quirk, but how it is made. First of all, our bed has to be made every single day. No exception, well, I guess there could be an exception, and that is if someone is sick and needs to be in it during the day. Also, I just like it made a certain way, We have 15 pillows that go at the head of our bed, and I have to admit, I like them placed in a certain way and a certain order. Call me crazy or weird, but that is the way it is. Let's just say that I am pretty much the only one that makes the bed in our house, because I am just that picky.

So there you go. 6 big, weird quirks of mine, right out there in the open.

I was going to tag a couple people, but I thought that this was fun, and if you want to put your quirks out there, for everyone to read, give it a go!

Cal in the OCTAGON?!

I have always loved Cal's eyes.

From the first time I saw him at Sounds Easy Pizza, I was drawn to his eyes.
They are so Handsome!

Cal's eyes have a way of relaxing me and letting me know that everything is alright.

They have a way of making me realize that I am the lucky girl that gets to look at them for eternity.

When he smiles, his eyes light up, and when he makes me smile, one of the first things I look at are his eyes.

That beautiful blue hue, the long lashes, and the sweet way they turn upward when he smirks.

I love them!

You can tell a lot about him by his eyes.

So, what do you think this eye is telling us?

Apparently, it is telling us that Cal should stick to Statistics and not MMA

Also, I just had to point out this uncanny comparison.
